FOOTBALL 101 A HUGE HIT!

On Tuesday, September 8th, Patriots fans gathered at Gillette Stadium's Fidelity Investments Clubhouse Lounge for Football 101, New England Patriots Benjamin Watson and his wife Kirsten's One More Foundation's unique and interactive learning experience for women. The sold-out event kicked off with a cocktail hour of complimentary desserts, snacks, and beverages as participants mingled with their favorite Patriots stars getting autographs and photos.
Armed with classroom and lecture hall assets, Benjamin and his teammates then took to educating these women through game film, power points, dry erase boards and lesson plans. In the Offense Seminar, slot standout Wes Welker and Tom Brady body guard Matt Light showed the inner-workings of the Pats high powered offense. The Defensive classroom saw Patriots legend Tedy Bruschi and starter Jarvis Green illustrating the great schemes of mastermind Bill Belichick's D. And, on Special Teams, Captain Sam Aiken and one of the best kickers in the game, Stephen Gostkowski pointed out how Kick Off and Punt Returns are covered, and how almost every one of those footballs off Stephen's foot go through the uprights on field goals.
While the women received their tutorials, the men in attendance were ushered over to Tastings Wine Bar and Bistro for a media panel with some of Boston's leading sports writers and personalities. Steve and Paul Burton of WBZ, Joe Amorsino from NBC Channel 7, former Patriot and current WEEI Big Show host Steve DeOssie, and Boston Herald Patriots beat writer Karen Guregian answered questions and provided insider insight to the Patriots locker-room and practice field. To top it off, Benjamin took them on a surprise, on the field tour.
It was a fantastic inaugural event that will be built on in coming years. For this first event, just through ticket sales and auctions, it raised over $15,000 for One More Foundation. For those that participated, thank you very much for supporting Benjamin and Kirsten's endeavor of "meeting real needs, promoting education and providing enrichment opportunities through charitable initiative and partnerships."
